Taylor emailed me sixteen months before his wedding to Tim. Sixteen months. I don't have client folders that go back that far in my own reminders, and somehow they were always a step ahead of me anyway — more than once I'd get an email from them the day before I had a note set to reach out.
We started with an engagement session in New Haven, Connecticut, a city I actually lived in for a year, so wandering it again with a camera in hand felt like visiting an old friend. More importantly, it gave me a real look at how Tim and Taylor operate together, and their dog Roger turned out to be an excellent, if occasionally uncooperative, third wheel.
A year later I was back in Connecticut, this time in Milford, for the wedding itself. True to form: Taylor drifted through the day in full go-with-the-flow mode, while Tim ran the group photos like a four-star general with a shot list, keeping the frame in front of my camera constantly full. Once the ceremony wrapped, he rounded up the entire family for photos with the kind of natural authority most photographers spend years trying to build in a client. If the wedding-planning thing ever slows down, Tim's got a real future in professional people-herding. If you want to see Taylor & Tim's wedding slideshow, it's here.
