Every outdoor wedding has a rain plan, except this one didn't, and a hurricane was bearing down on the venue as guests started arriving from out of town. Melissa's response to all of it was simple: make it work anyway.
She wasn't fazed by the worsening weather, and neither was the venue staff, who quietly opened up the basement and shuffled guests between spaces as conditions shifted, all without disrupting the day. Most guests never even realized the wedding had been planned as fully outdoors in the first place. That's a credit to Melissa and Brett's easygoing attitude as much as it is to the venue's quick thinking.
Some of my favorite wedding photography happens exactly like this: not despite the weather, but because a couple refused to let it define their day.
