It feels like just yesterday I met Patty and Jodie to get some photos commemorating their Domestic Partnership! They were both an absolute treat to work with, and the whole time felt like I was hanging out with long time friends.
Patty brought along props as well! In a couple of the photos you can see a wedding veil that has been handed down for more than 100(!!) years through Patty's family, brought out especially for this occasion. She showed me photos of her family members who have worn the veil, or been photographed in it, over the years. I got into photography because I wanted to save memories of my life. It's difficult to put into words how special I feel knowing that I get the chance to capture memories that will be handed down for generations to come.
In a bit of a more lighthearted moment, I spotted something in the Hudson river swimming towards us. Given that I grew up in North Carolina, my initial thought was this was 100% a snake that was hell bent on killing us all. As it got closer, I realized it was a stupid cute little river otter just swinging by to say hi. It was about that point that Patty exclaimed "oh, oh! A bald eagle!" and we all looked skyward, amazed at the grace and beauty as it soared above us. Once it landed in a far off tree, I felt relief and said, "oh man... I was certain we were about to have a David Attenborough moment." Patty & Jodie laughed, agreeing, and we all launched into our best David Attenborough impressions. As much as I would like to say mine was clearly the best... it was in fact clearly the worst.
